I've been wanting to paint the topic of cats in space for quite awhile, so here is "Cosmos", my first painting along that theme. Have you ever wondered how a cat sees the universe? Maybe they, like us, think the cosmos revolves around them. In this case the cosmos is watching back in the form of a giant cats eye surrounded by crackling lightning in the midst of a beautiful and colorful nebula. While leprechauns are part of old Irish lore, this leprecat is more reflective of an Americanized St Patrick's Day. He has a rainbow leading to his pot of gold, but instead of coins he has a nice glass of golden colored beer. His expression suggests that's not his first glass of the night. He's also decked out in a green coat and hat with a gold buckle. The one truly traditional aspect of this leprechaun is that he has nice boots, which a real leprechaun would have made himself. The man in the moon is keeping watch over this happy little leprecat and will make sure he gets home safely.
