This painting is an ode to The Phantom of The Opera in the form of a dilute calico cat. Her fur pattern mimics the man in the mask, and her eyes reflect a hint of the infamous chandelier. The red rose over the cat's paws is of course a symbol of love. The musical includes a haunting scene with candles in fog, and I chose that as the backdrop for my rendition the story. It was my intention though that the romantic and gothic imagery might speak to a larger audience that might not be familiar with the story of the opera ghost.
