Dulce Gato the Sugar Skull Cat Wrapped Canvas Print

Dulce Gato means sweet cat, which sounds better than the Spanish translation for sugar cat. I had been wanting to paint a sugar skull for the Day of the Dead and I prefer to paint cats rather than people, so this was the natural outcome for me. The red and orange colors are exciting, like a celebration, and the little ghosts in the eyes add a touch of mystery. The style of face paint also lends itself to a tribal cat interpretation. I was looking at a Sphynx cat when I painted this but the color reminds me more of an Abyssinian cat.

I've had people who buy this print tell me that they're going to use it as part of a remembrance for their own beloved cat. I couldn't ask for better.
